About CPUG
CPUG is the Check Point User Group. If you specify, architect, install, configure, maintain,
debug, hack or defend Check
Point products the User Group and the meetings have been designed for you. It's not for Chief Financial Officers or anyone
who never reads further than the marketing materials.
It's for Dilbert and Wally, not for the Pointy-Haired Boss. It's for
people who roll up their sleeves, try to understand what's going on inside
Firewall-1, and take responsibility for keeping their network running safely and reliably.
I've been a Check Point installer, maintainer, consultant, teacher and author for
ten years, earning my first CCSE on version 3.0b. I've always felt that getting Firewall-1 to work and
understanding its complexities seemed harder than necessary.
Few companies are large enough to afford more than one Firewall-1
specialist, so it seemed the life of a Firewall-1 implementer could be
frustrating and lonely. I realize there may be a long proud tradition of
frustration and loneliness in the IT business, but I wanted to try to do
something about it.
We sometimes host monthly meetings in Silicon Valley, and
now we're hosting a conference to include everybody from out of town, too. I want this site to be the center of our community.
If you're a Check Point implementer, welcome home.
